Beginner drum lessons aim to provide a strong foundation in drumming basics and help you develop good habits and technique that will serve you well as you progress to more advanced levels of playing. Firstly starting with a strong foundation of the basics, focusing on beats, technique and reading music. After establishing this you will enjoy learning your first song. From there we move to more challenging rhythms, fills and songs based on their passions, strengths and weaknesses.

For students coming to me with prior experience, the first session is about finding out where you are musically. Establishing your strengths and weaknesses as well as what your goals are moving forward. After that, lessons aim to take your drumming skills to the next level, with a focus on advanced techniques, rhythms, fills, improvisation, and being comfortable in a band setting. Lessons are be tailored to your individual goals and interests, strengthening your weaknesses, improving your ability to express yourself and help achieve your goals.

You’ll need a pair of drumsticks past your first lesson, I recommend 7a or 5a sized drumsticks.
A clear file folder is handy to store music sheets.
If a drum kit is not available at home, I recommend using a practice pad. This is a good transportable option for practicing anywhere, even when travelling!
