  • As the current drummer and playback technician for Muroki since 2021 touring domestically and internationally, Ezra's live experience includes performances for individuals and bands including BENEE, Tom Verberne, Carwash, RIIKI REID, Arjuna Oakes, Judah Kelley, Harry Teardrop, Solomon Crook, Silas Futura, LB, Bailey Wiley, and Melodownz. With these artists, he has also opened for esteemed artists such as Jack Johnson, Fazerdaze, and Avantdale Bowling Club.

    Venues Ezra has played live for span a wide spectrum of locations and festivals such as Spark Arena, Powerstation, Rhythm and Alps, Rhythm and Vines, The Hollywood Avondale, The Tuning Fork. Internationally, they include Big Top in Sydney, Luna Park Melbourne, Home of the Arts Amphitheatre Gold Coast, Wanderer Festival and Wine Machine Festivals in Australia.

  • Session Drumming is no foreign concept for Ezra, having played and been recorded on albums and singles including Muroki’s ‘Heading East’ EP, ‘Shows Heaps’ Single and ‘Don’t Walk’ Album by Tom Verberne, ‘Pluto’ Album by Silas Futura and ‘Planet Keith’ Album by Keith.

    Ezra has recorded at esteemed studios in Auckland such as Roundhead Studios and Parachute Studios on numerous occasions. His performance with BENEE is also featured on Triple J’s Like a Version.

  • In between tours and sessions, Ezra Donnelly, also nurtures a passion for teaching since 2017. Aiming to inspire a new generation of drummers, he considers this endeavor immensely significant. With extensive experience in the music industry, Ezra is committed to guiding students of diverse ages and skill levels in achieving their musical aspirations.

    Whether beginners are seeking to learn fundamentals or experienced drummers aiming to refine their skills, Ezra offers personalized guidance tailored to individual needs and preferences.

    From mastering rhythms and fills to cultivating a unique style and sound, he accompanies students on every step of their journey towards becoming accomplished drummers.

    Ezra is proud to share that many of his students flourish in school bands, achieving notable milestones such as winning Best Drummer at Bandquest 2021 and securing triumph at the Kings College Year 7 Band Competition in 2022.

About Ezra…

Based in Auckland New Zealand, Ezra Donnelly is a seasoned Session Drummer, Educator, and Playback Technician.

He holds the position of the current touring drummer for Muroki and boasts an extensive list of performances, including collaborations with notable artists like BENEE, Molly Payton, Tom Verberne, Carwash, and Arjuna Oakes. His professional journey also encompasses collaborations with Producers Josh Fountain and Djeisan Suskov, amongst others.

Ezra's musical journey began at the age of 7 when he commenced his drumming education, leading to his active involvement in local bands within Hamilton's music scene throughout his high school years. Since 2016, he has established himself as a sought-after session drummer in Auckland. Notably, he formed the Hip Hop band 'Keith,' which embarked on national tours and garnered recognition through an opening performance for Avantdale Bowling Club at Auckland’s Powerstation in 2019.

In 2020, Ezra supported BENEE for two consecutive nights at Spark Arena, performing alongside Tom Verberne. Subsequently, his role as Muroki's drummer from 2021 onwards has led to extensive domestic and international touring. His impactful performances encompass headline tours across Australia, supporting BENEE's Australian tour, and sharing stages with luminaries like Jack Johnson, His main stage presence include renowned events such as Rhythm & Vines, Rhythm & Alps, Soundsplash, and Le Currents.

Ezra's adaptability and professional capability shines as he stepped in last minute to fill the drummer role for BENEE on Triple J's Like a Version and the Wine Machine Festival in Canberra during her 2022 Australian tour. He has also embarked on a New Zealand tour with LA-based artist Carwash, supporting Fazerdaze.

Throughout 2023 Ezra continued performing with Muroki, which included opening for Ocean Alley at a sold out Spark Arena as we as supporting LEISURE in the Australia and New Zealand legs of their ‘Leisurevision’ tour.

Continuing into 2024 Ezra performed on Triple J’s ‘Like a Version’ for a second time with Muroki.

His portfolio spans further with performances alongside RIIKI REID, Jude Kelley, Rita Mae, Keith, LB, Solomon Crook, and more. In addition to live performances, Ezra's recorded drumming can be heard on studio albums and singles, including contributions to Muroki's 'Heading East' EP, Reiki Ruiwai’s ‘In Time’ Single, Tom Verberne's 'Don’t Walk' Album, 'Shows Heaps,' single and ‘Skinwalk’ EP. Silas Futura's 'Pluto' Album, and 'Planet Keith' Album by Keith.
