
About Ezra
Ezra Donnelly is a session drummer, educator, and playback technician based in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland, New Zealand. Known for his adaptability and groove-focused style, Ezra has become a trusted live and studio collaborator for some of Aotearoa’s most exciting artists.
He currently tours with Muroki, performing across Aotearoa, Australia and Europe and has shared stages with Jack Johnson, BENEE, Ocean Alley, and Kokoroko. His live work spans major festivals like Rhythm & Vines, Laneway, and Soundsplash, as well as iconic venues including Spark Arena, Western Springs and The Powerstation.
As a session player, Ezra’s drumming can be heard on Muroki’s Heading East EP, Tom Verberne’s Don’t Walk album and Skinwalk EP, Jude Kelly’s Seven Spirits of Her EP and Reiki Ruawai’s In Time single. He’s has also appeared twice on Triple J’s Like a Version—once with BENEE and again with Muroki.
Ezra’s passion for music extends to education. Since 2017, he’s been teaching drummers of all ages, offering personalised, goal-oriented lessons from his central Auckland studio. His students have gone on to win regional competitions and grow as confident, expressive musicians.
Whether behind the kit, in the studio, or mentoring the next generation, Ezra brings energy, professionalism, and a deep love for rhythm to everything he does.
